As if by magic could be the title of Claudia Caviezel's exquisite designs acquired by luxury Swiss-based fashion company AKRIS for their 2008 prêt-à-porter fashion collection. Inspired by the shadow particles known as dust in Philip Pullman's fantasy novels, Caviezel used photograms - a magical shadow photographic process – to create her designs. She sprinkled powdered chocolate and table sugar on light-sensitive paper and exposed the patterns with light. Enhanced with digital colour the result became a magical collection that looks as ethereal as the Northern Lights and as enchanted as a fairytale.
